The Smart Employer Network as an Option
The Smart Employer Network (Smart E Network®) is intended to be only one option for a member when choosing a physician. There are many ways to evaluate physician practices and members should consult with their existing physicians and physicians that they are interested in before making a decision. All ratings have a risk of error and, therefore, should not be the sole basis for selecting a physician.
We recommend members consider the following when selecting a physician:
- Consult with their current physicians regarding their healthcare decisions
- View the Smart E Network list of physicians, selected based on clinical quality and cost efficiency information as one factor in their healthcare decision.
- Smart E Network selection is not a guarantee as to the quality of the service a member receives or the outcome of any treatment by that physician.
- If a physician is currently not selected for the Smart E Network, this does not mean the physician does not provide quality services. We might not have sufficient data to evaluate this physician and/or this physician might be in the process of appealing his or her selection status.
